For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Toyota bZ are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the bZ are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the bZ and VF 8 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the bZ has Parking Support Brake (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 8’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the bZ and the VF 8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Toyota bZ is safer than the VinFast VF 8:

The Toyota bZ has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2025 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The VF 8 has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2025.

The bZ’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the VF 8’s (unlimited vs. 125000 miles).

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the bZ for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. VinFast doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the VF 8.

There are over 35 times as many Toyota dealers as there are VinFast dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the bZ’s warranty.

For greater off-road capability the bZ has a 1.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the VF 8 (8.2 vs. 6.8 inches), allowing the bZ to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Toyota bZ may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1100 to 1350 pounds less than the VinFast VF 8.

For excellent aerodynamics, the bZ has standard flush composite headlights. The VF 8 has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The bZ’s standard Smart Key System allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Passive Entry standard on the VF 8 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The bZ’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The VF 8’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

Compared to the VinFast VF 8, the Toyota bZ eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.

The bZ is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the VF 8, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the bZ offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the VF 8.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the bZ equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The VF 8, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Toyota bZ empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

The Toyota bZ stands out above the VinFast VF 8 by offering not one, but Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and two of them provide more flexibility. Both vehicles also offer Qi charging for the rear passengers.

The bZ Limited’s Advanced Park can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The VF 8 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The bZ is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
